mmm, hospital food. No worse than your average frozen meal, except for the soup. Carrot soup? I like soup and I like carrots , but carrots as the main flavor  of a soup? Uh, pass...

Just had some scrambled eggs, bacon steaks and Cumberland sausages.

I’ve never been a fan of carrot soup, though it’s usually carrot and coriander.

Is that meal served in polystyrene?

I had a leftover piece of meat pie. It was tasty.

For dinner... I don’t really want to go buy groceries so I’ll probably  order some takeaway, not sure what yet.

Yeah, some sort of foam container. I don’t know if polystyrene is still a thing or if they’ve come up with a more environmentally friendly alternative.

Your breakfast looks great - MEAT! I’ve got a nice ribeye waiting for me at home, and hopefully it'll still be OK when I get home in a few days.

I don’t hate carrot soup, but it’s definitely more of a November food than June.

For second breakfast I had a carne asada breakfast burrito that I’m still not sure if I paid for (long story, but I did hand over a credit card so at least I tried). I might eat some carrot cake soon.

Do they let you order your own food there? Or is it just whatever? I remember the food not being awful during my hospital stay a few years ago.

It’s 20:45 here. But breakfast foods are great any time of the day.

I’ve a ribeye myself but may have it later. It’s got to be used up today. Will see what I feel like

They do stop by with a tablet and tell you the options for the next meal. I don’t think they asked about breakfast (because I was probably asleep) but they did give me a few options for lunch, and I expect the same for dinner.

Nothing wrong with the food. Considering how many meals they need to prepare on a daily basis I can understand them limiting options, like in a cafeteria or on an airplane.

I hope the carrot cake has a proper cream cheese icing. Without that it's kind of pointless...

What is that tan lump in the front compartment? At first I thought it was a chicken pot pie without the crust but upon zooming in is it a chicken breast with some gravy on top?

Correct - chicken breast with gravy. Not to bad, actually - it was cooked just right. More of that gravy for the rice would have been nice.

Not all hospital food is made equal. While I was completely unable to eat while in recovery, my wife was eating my food orders (until they figured out it wasn’t for me, dammit) and they were actually amazing.

I got put in a single occupancy wing that had a better food setup. I’m pretty sure they just want me to not sue them after they exploded a balloon in my head an d al most killed me in January. Anyways, feast your eyes on this
